The Clowns`Day - this is how it looked like there |
|
On Saturday May 27, 2006, Trenčín changed to a town full of clowns. Dr. Klaun Fund presented its work to the general public and it was also collecting money so they could visit children more often. A public fund raising took place, clowns` noses, postcards, and posters were being sold ... Every single Slovak crown received during this event was sent to the Dr. Klaun Fund account in order to be lately used to bring smiles on children faces.
During that day, there were several different clowns`worlds on Mierové square. They were “living their own lives” but they were also weaving their way through others, they were changing their audiences and sometimes even their own performers.
There were various clowns moving around the square – some of them were performing and some of them were helping. And some of them were there because of pure happiness and fun ...
The audiences were enjoying this and that – shows, games, drawing, films – many of them liked it so much that even they become clowns ...
The number of clowns was constantly growing and soon the clowns` noses could be seen at almost every corner in Trenčín.
Even those who had “nothing on” did not come short. Teachers and their pupils from elementary art school in Trencin prepared gorgeous creations and drawings for everybody.
Dr. Klaun Fund enjoyed not only how children and adults were having fun, but also presents that will be further used: the Dutch visitors will donate additional 40 electric-powered scooters and generous sum of money to pay for the shows organized by Dr. Klaun Fund. A company DOMOSS, which backed up the Clowns` Day, decided to cheer up children and personnel of DEMY (Social Care House) in Trencin and surprised them with an additional present – a new refrigerator.
A hectic bustle started right at twelve o'clock. Clowns, together with the people from the audiences, took away all the benches in front of the stage. Policemen helped them to set apart space needed for clowns that started coming through ...
...when there were still more and more of them, some of them smaller, some of them bigger, some of them serious and some of them cheerful, it was really unbelievable. We had a feeling that everything would go the right way. And it did – the final number was presented by Mr. Svitek from Slovak Records Agency: the new Slovak record was 749 clowns gathered on one spot.
But we did not finished after the new record was announced. All participants were rewarded with several additional clowns` and theatrical shows and children could fill up their pockets with sweets they got from numerous games they could take part in, not forgetting that there were plenty of opportunities to take lovely pictures.
Thank you for coming. Thanks that you left your “serious” faces at home and that you enjoyed this day. Thank you also for the fact that at the end there were not enough clowns` noses – it means that we underestimated your willingness to help. Thank you in the name of all children from institutions of the special care for your donations that will help us to organize even more Dr. Clowns that will visit them.

Dr. Klaun Fund thanks to all who helped to organize the Clowns` Day on May 27, 2006 in Trencin. Thanks to more than 80 volunteers, who devoted their energy, enthusiasm, ideas and free time without any claim to be paid. Without them it would be impossible to organize such a beautiful day.
